Sylvain's New Book

Here is for the first time, in both description and pictures, an anthology of the main weapons used by the famous ninja. These formidable shadow warriors had learnt to adapt to any situation and even the most hostile environment; they were both master in the art of close combat and indirect strategies. They used often unconventional techniques of Shiba-uchi (a short sword), Manriki-gusari (a chain weapon having the force of 10,000 men), Juji-shuriken (a very rare version of the throwing blade in the shape of a cross), Tekagi and Shukkô (claws of steel), Saken (the famous throwing star of ninja), Kozuka (small stiletto), Bô (staff) and Fûku (hook).

An acknowledged expert on feudal Ninjutsu for more than twenty years, Sylvain Guintard dedicated his life to the practice of traditional martial arts, Japanese culture and religion. More than a personal passion, his chosen path is a mission to build a cultural bridge between France and Japan. Black belt 5th dan (Godan Gokui Menkyo Kaiden) of the school Namban Sattô Karate-Kempô since 1997, 4th dan French Federation of Karate and Associated Disciplines since 1990, this bright son of pub (he was responsible for the ‘Overseas’ department of a famous Japanese advertising agency until his return to France after a terrible accident) shows an extraordiany journey with spiritual Grand Masters. More than thirty years of practice of Budo, among which twelve years were spent as a permanent resident in the isles of Japan, he is the representative for Europe (Inshô) of Byakuren Kempô-Karaté under the authority of the Founder Kancho Masayasu Sugihara. Author of several works and a film about Ninja, he has authored numerous reports for the international press and collaborates regularly on the magazine Karaté-Bushidô... At 45 years old, this monk - warrior poses with his Shuriken in Alps where he introduces some students to feudal Ninjutsu, to traditional Budo, to Takishugyo (meditation under waterfall) and in Shugendô (Traditional Japanese mixture of Shamanism, animalism and esoteric Buddhism), together with the mysterious red wolf...
